Pearls is an awesome pattern by Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic. I love this modern pattern. Yes. I shamelessly copied every part of it, including the fabric she designed Modern Background Paper and For You. My "pearls" were hand appliqued on a road trip to Seattle to visit my daughter over Thanksgiving. Pearls
61" x 61" 166 pieces I'm so excited! Voices is officially a finished quilt top! Prairie Gatherings was a Block of the Month quilt in the year 2015. Each month I received fabric and instructions to complete a portion, beginning with the center, and then adding a border each month. The designer of the quilt, Pam Buda, included stories of how historically women have made quilts that have "spoken" for them when they were not allowed to have any voice outside of the home setting. Because a quilt could represent a message, I re-named my quilt Voices. After twelve months of measuring, cutting, measuring, piecing, measuring, seam ripping, measuring, piecing, measuring... I did it! Perhaps I am now better at piecing, as the instructions said I would be. It certainly has the most pieces of any quilt I have made. Ever. Voices
89" x 101" approximately 2660 pieces December means it's time to make a Christmas quilt, right? That's what I thought too! This fabric has festive Christmas colors, tree branches, stripes, little trucks and cars on their way to and from Christmas tree farms, decorated trees, and wonderful text print with different types of evergreen trees... some I'd never even heard of before. Since I most recently made quilts with oodles of tiny triangles, circles, and curves I wanted something different (read: something quick and easy). I chose a pattern from Precut Primer by Me and My Sister Designs. 5th Grade Quilt appears to have Christmas trees and farm rows. Seemed a perfect choice. The fabric and the pattern went together logically, at least in my mind! Do these blocks remind you of Christmas trees? And farm rows? They do for me. A fun Christmas project! I don't normally name a quilt after the fabric, but in this case the name was perfect. Here is my new Christmas quilt! Holly's Tree Farm
