The fun
(and the challenges)
have come to an end.
The sashing is from the Stroll Along the Seine collection
by Mary Jane Carey for Henry Glass & Co.
As I started to sew the curved seams,
the first challenge was clear...
some of my blocks turned out to be quite wonky...
even with templates.
To be honest,
I made at least twelve blocks before I was comfortable with the result.
I was worried that I would not be able to applique nice circles,
but after discovering how to make them...
mine turned out satisfactorily...almost perfect...
and eventually became one of the easiest parts.
so that the bulky seams coming together would lie flat.
I loved putting the fabrics together in different combinations
and enjoying the results.
The last challenge was sewing all the blocks together with the sashing.
Definitely a challenge.
Because the blocks tended to be somewhat wonky,
the sashing became wonky.
Admittedly, a few...
but only a few...
points were actually cut off.
(I will live with that.)
Hopefully the rest of the wonkiness can be quilted out.
This was a perfect project for fall.
The colors on my sewing table mirrored the colors outside my window.
